First you'll need to decide whether you're going to bleach your hair.If you want really vibrant colours, you'll need to bleach your hair first, any of our bleach kits will do. If you have very light hair or you only want a subtle tint then skip this step.
Next, put an elastic band or hair band on your hair a few centimetres above where you want the dip dye colour to start and begin applying the bleach with a tint brush. If you fan your hair out and do a small strand at a time you'll get more even coverage, also try and feather where the bleach stops a little if you dont want a straight line.
Wash out the bleach with clean water and a little mild shampoo, but don't condition your hair as this can stop the dye sticking properly.
Once your hair is dry you can add the dye. Again, put an elastic band or hair band on your hair Using a tint brush, apply the dye everywhere that the bleach has lightened your hair. It's best to go a little bit over the line and get some dye on the unbleached hair too to make sure the colour blends in.
If you're going for more than one colour, it's best to put the lighter colours on higher up and to apply them before you put on the darker colours - darker colours will go on over lighter colours but not the other way round. Now rinse out the dye, condition your hair and dry it.
The best thing about dip dyed hair is that you never have to worry about touching up your roots so it takes very little maintenance, and if you change your look often then it's not too much trouble to do it all over again.
